A battery management system (BMS) is critical to maintaining an EV’s battery health and ensuring vehicle safety. It is designed to deliver optimal performance. The BMS in Altigreen EVs promises long battery life, energy stability and early detection of possible faults for the safety of driver and vehicle.
The Lithium-ion LiFePO 4 (LFP) battery packs are capable of operations at high temperatures and suitable for Indian environmental conditions. The electronic architecture in Altigreen’s electric vehicle drivetrain has been designed to maximize operational capability, enhance driving reliability and support the functional features of the vehicle.
Embedded software stacks in the motor and vehicle controller units dynamically recalibrate the electric motor outputs to maximize performance while conserving energy based on driver inputs, battery charge, vehicle load and external road conditions.
Altigreen’s controllers ensure high energy conversion efficiency and improved torque by controlling output currents to the induction motor using FOC with STM or (PWM) in a closed-loop torque-control mode.
The torque is controlled by indirectly controlling the quadrature and direct axis currents in an inner control loop to establish desired 3-phase output currents. To meet global EV performance standards, the controller utilizes field weakening in control of the output currents/voltages.

The drivetrain unit delivers up to 8.25 kW of power to produce a top speed of 53 kmph and an ARAI certified driving range of 151 km on a single charge.
The key enablers of the electric drivetrain unit are the outstanding characteristics of its low voltage, high efficiency induction motor design; the low loss MOSFET system in its inverter to maximize efficiency; the battery management system to optimize the battery system’s life and performance; and embedded software and control algorithms that are a part of Altigreen’s 26 global patents, including 6 in the US.
Combining the motor with the inverter, the vehicle transmission integrates the gear train and differential into a single rotational system creating a state-of-the-art electric drivetrain for 3-wheeler electric vehicles. Altigreen drew upon several years of its experience and hundreds of thousands of kilometres of real-world testing in developing and optimizing the performance of its electric powertrain.
